Below, you'll find a brief description of the current EPiC Elementary PTA committees. 

There are many opportunities to volunteer with the PTA. If you want to get involved a little or a lot, there is something for everyone. Many of the committees also have multiple chairs. If you have questions about volunteering with any of the committees, please feel free to ask

The PTA President and vice president oversee all committees. They will work closely with you and your committee, guide you, attend any necessary meetings, and help with your event. 

If you're interested in volunteering for any of these committees, please email the PTA President or select these volunteer options on the form when joining the PTA at the beginning of each school year.

5th Grade recognition

A committee made up of 5th-grade parents who plan special activities and celebrations for the 5th graders. They are also responsible for creating fliers/communication; and helping set up, break down, and volunteering during the events.

There are usually two (2) committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: Planning usually begins a couple of months before the end of the school year.

used book exchange

A committee of PTA members coordinates the communications and logistics of our annual Used Book Exchange, where children donate their gently used books to the event and in exchange, every child gets to pick out their own "new" books to take home. They are also responsible for creating a flier/communication; and helping set up, break down, and volunteering during the event.

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event usually happens towards the end of the school year.

Book Fairs

Twice a year, the PTA partners with Scholastic to conduct a sale of popular books during the school day. The committee is responsible for communicating with Scholastic to schedule the fair, set up and break down the book fair(s), and volunteer during the sale.

There is usually one (1) or two (2) committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event usually happens twice during the school year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring

Family NEEDS

This committee is responsible for helping find ways to support our EPiC families who find themselves in need. We love giving back to our community, and this committee is here to support our amazing families in any way we can.

There are usually one (1) or two (2) committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This committee is ongoing throughout the school year and usually takes a minimal amount of time/planning, but does need to be consistently checked sin on.

Family Events

This committee is responsible for scheduling and planning activities to provide EPiC students and their families an opportunity to socialize after school hours.  The chair(s) of these events will help plan and organize a variety of family nights throughout the year. They are also responsible for creating a flier/communication; and helping set up, break down, and volunteering during the event.

There are usually two (2) or three (3) committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: These events usually happen several times throughout the year. Planning usually starts at the beginning of the school year and is ongoing.

Field Day

This committee is responsible for scheduling and planning the annual Field Day event held during the school day. This committee works closely with school administration to develop the planned activities. They are also responsible for helping set up, break down, and volunteering during the event.

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event happens towards the end of the school year.

Fundraising (Monster mash Dash)

This committee is responsible for scheduling and planning our only fundraising event of the year, the annual Monster Mash Dash Run-a-Thon. They are also responsible for creating a flier/communication; setting up the pledge accounts; and helping set up, break down, and volunteering during the event.

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event happens towards the beginning of the school year, and should start planning 1-2 months before the event.

Reflections

This committee coordinates the PTA Reflections program. Its responsibilities include disseminating information about the program to students, helping them submit unit entries, and organizing school awards for any participant winners. 

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Volunteer Commitment Time-frame: This event usually happens during the Fall/Winter.

RESTAURANT/SPIRIT NIGHTS

This committee coordinates all of the restaurant and spirit nights for the PTA. They are responsible for contacting and coordinating with various establishments to set up fundraising nights throughout the school year.   

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: The planning for this starts immediately at the beginning of the school year (or a little before). Events are usually pre-scheduled for the entire school early in the year, and the time commitment is low.

SPIRT WEAR

EPiC clothing items are offered for sale during the fall.  This committee helps coordinate new spirit wear designs, helps pick out the products, and implements the sale of these products.

There is usually one (1) or (2) two committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event happens at the beginning of the school year. Planning for this usually starts at the end of the previous school year.

Staff appreciation

The PTA plans and provides several special appreciation days for teachers and staff throughout the year to thank them for all they do for our children. The committee is responsible for coming up with special themes; ordering decor, food, and staff gifts; and helping set up and break down each event. 

There is usually one (1) or (2) two committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: These events happen throughout the school year. Planning usually starts at the beginning of the school year and is ongoing.

Suply packs

School supply packs are a great way to help support the school and save yourself a ton of time. This committee coordinates the packs for each classroom, initiates the sale of the packs with the vendor, and creates the fliers/promotional materials. 

There is usually one (1) committee chair for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: This event happens at the end of the school year.

yearbook

The PTA is responsible for creating the annual yearbook. The committee is responsible for the overall theme and direction of the yearbook, holding the annual student cover contest, and constructing the yearbook. The committee members are responsible for coordinating with and collecting pictures from teachers and staff throughout the year, selling the yearbook, and submitting the final product to Reed Portrait Group for printing.  

There is usually one (1) or (2) two committee chairs for this committee. 

Commitment Time-frame: Planning for the yearbook usually starts in January and continues through the end of the year.
